This targeted sensing is deliberately designed so that the lid does not open when simply walking past, but only when actually intending to dispose of waste. For the sensor to function properly, it is not advisable to place the basket directly under low shelves, windowsills or other obstructions above the lid.

The lid remains open for 5 seconds, after which it closes automatically.
